Michelle Salter is a multidisciplinary artist who works primarily in encaustic painting, sculpture, and mixed-media drawing. Her artwork is influenced by her longstanding interest in nature and environmental issues. Inspiration for her work comes from what she sees around her everyday. She is interested in the Abstract image and the challenge of interpreting iconic Canadian scenery in a new way.
Salter is a graduate of Fine Arts – Studio (Honours) from the University of Waterloo. She is an active in the arts community and is a member of the Waterloo Community Arts Centre in the Button Factory and the artist collective, Uptown Gallery, both in Waterloo and The Crit Group in Kitchener. She was an organizer of the award winning BOX Art Show, an annual juried exhibition of artists from the Region of Waterloo. She has a number of other arts related awards to her credit and her work is represented in private and public collections throughout Canada and the US.
